Marching Band and Concert Band

Marching Band and Concert Band - The band program is divided into two parts: the marching band and the concert band.

*Marching Band activities include participation at athletic events, band shows, and parades.  Marching techniques and the playing of music suitable for the occasion are stressed. The time involved is the first twelve weeks of the school calendar and all community parades throughout the year.  Members of the colorguard and drum line are special units that perform with the marching band.  They are selected by try-out performances. At least one service project is offered per school year for band members in order to gain Community Service Hours.  Marching band members are eligible to travel

*Concert Band offers each student the opportunity to perform music of a very wide variety.  Playing techniques, theory, and music appreciation are areas that receive added attention.  Performances consist of a Holiday Concert and a Spring Concert. Different ensembles, such as brass and woodwind groups, are an outgrowth of the concert band.

*Requires some evening and weekend rehearsals and performances including graduation at the end of the school year.  Attendance and Academic excellence are encouraged to remain eligible for all activities outside of regular school hours.
