8th Grade American History
American History Syllabus
Welcome to American History This year we will explore the birth and development of our nation.
The main goal of the course is for students to develop of better understanding of the roots of our country and its government.
Course Objectives:
- Analyze historical events and people
- Explore Pennsylvania History
- Explore principles and documents of government
- Describe the role of American citizens
- Explain how government works
- Explore the United States’ role in World History
Instruction:
- Lecture
- Reading Assignments
- Writing Assignments
- Research Projects
- Quizzes and Tests
Videos, visuals, and games will be used to aid the instruction.
Course Materials:
- chromebook
- binder/folder
- notebook
Assignments:
- Students will complete assignments independently, with a partner, or as a group depending on the assignment.
- Assignments are due on the due date, no exceptions.
- Students are responsible for their own work. Cheating or copying is not tolerated.
Grading:
Grades will be determined by four categories:
- Classwork/Participation(Homework)
- Quizzes
- Tests and Projects
- Writing Assignments
*The grading system is weighted. Grades in some categories will account for more weight toward each quartile average and final grade.
Students will be expected to follow classroom rules and handbook policies.
